MEETING MINUTES

Tuesday, August 21, 2007 @ 5:30 p.m.
Cary Senior Center
120 Maury O’Dell Place, - Cary, NC 27513  

Attendance: Leslie Ann, Tony, Wesley, Madhu, Tiffany, Tom, Alyssa, Siddhu, Jessie, Ryan, Taler, Ian, Carlotta  

Absent: Ben Mohar  

Staff Present: Cindi King, Glenn Mitchell  

Leslie Ann called the meeting to order at 5:37 pm  

Adoption of Agenda: Ian Lee made a motion to adopt the August Agenda, Wesley Lo seconded, motion passed unanimously.  

Adoption of Minutes: Ian Lee made a motion to adopt the July minutes, Tony D'Amico seconded, motion passed unanimously.  

Public Speaks Out: None  

Special Presentation:

Leslie Ann Willis made a presentation on her trip to Fort Lauderdale , FL for the Sister Cities Youth Conference.  She had a great experience and appreciated the opportunity to go.

 Teen Forum Discussion
The group came up with a list of groups to possibly seek help for the Teen Forum
The following teens will be contacting the groups and will set up meetings with them:

Band Members -Leslie Ann
Key Club-Madhu
FCA/Dance -Taler
National Honor Society-Ian
The Edge-Tiffany

The YMCA and Young Life were also mentioned.  Cindi indicated that we should visit some of these groups, as well as others to let them know what we are doing and get them interested.The goal is to get the teen members of these groups to become stake holds and to help assist in making the decisions of what we should offer.
Other groups that were mentioned for marketing purposes were PTA groups at each of the schools, School newspapers.
 The group brainstormed on how we would address these groups with information.  It was first asked how would we determine this years theme.

The following were choices posed by the group:
1)Let the big groups that we are going to come up with different ideas and the TAC group rep would bring those ideas back to TAC
2)Break the big groups into Small groups and bring back 5-6 ideas from each of the groups
3)Take 3-4 ideas from TAC to the groups and do a vote/survey
4)Obtain a sample group from the various groups and get their ideas  

The group voted on #3 - Take 3-4 ideas from TAC to the groups and do a vote/survey  

The group then came up with various "broad" ideas to take to the groups.  The following choices were posed by the group:
1)Environment
2) Career
3)Leadership/Teamwork
4) Health Related Issues

 From these ideas the TAC teen reps will then go to the various groups and present these ideas to their teen groups.  Each group will choose their favorite and will come up with what they would like to see brought out during the forum this year based on their choice.

 Cindi will let the teens know when to start speaking to their teen groups.
