Goal Setting - Steve Smutko
The committee discussed the suggested goals from the April meeting and additional suggested goals from the joint Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Advisory Board meeting on May 1st.  At the joint meeting attendees were given five areas to develop goals.

  • Public Input
Develop a process for the committee to review Town Council proposals and issues and provide feedback from a teen perspective. The committee felt that this was a priority goal.
Develop a process for providing input from the Teen Advisory Committee and Teen Council regarding Town government.

  • Performance Measurement
Develop a mechanism for reporting volunteer hours.

  • Public Awareness
Develop a process for promoting volunteer opportunities to the public and seeking volunteer opportunities from other groups.
Review and update the Marketing plan for Teen Scene. Put more information on Teen programs in the BUD. Get information to area private schools on Teen programs.

  • Participation
Create a process for Teen council representatives on other committees to share information with the Teen Advisory Committee.

  • Priority Setting
Improve attendance in teens classes. Staff will look back at previous year's participation numbers to see trends.
    Increase programs for ages 10-14.

Other suggestions included having a Teen Advisory committee member give a report to the Town Council on the committee's activities and accomplishments.  It was also suggested that a Teen Advisory committee member sit on a Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources project committee such as the upcoming Walnut Street project and give input from a teen perspective. The committee would also like to incorporate the Teen Forum into the goals.  The committee will continue to discuss the 2006 goals at the next meeting.
