Ø The Program
Brochure class participants are up to 170 from last year, which were 130 participants.

doing well. There are eleven that are
open for registration currently and several other camps that will start
registration in May.
Ø In March,

Ø Applause is
currently working on the production of Beauty and the Beast – not the Disney
version. There is a cast of 28 with a
design team of 12.
Ø The Committee
wanted to know if Applause needed any help.
Rachel will contact the Committee when packing up supplies and other
items from Old Cary Elementary to move to the Human Resource building.

Ø Staff will continue to meet with the architects.
Ø Focusing on outdoor plaza usage and lobby.
Ø The cupola has raised questions.
Should the designer create a new more contemporary piece or bring light
into the building? If you do both the
cost would increase.
Ø This would also create a new land mark for the downtown.
Ø A few on the Committee felt having the light was more important
than the new design.
Ø Everyone was in agreement to respect the historic look of the
building and structure.
Ø The Committee questioned that on the Town seal there is a picture
of the school without a cupola, would these change.

Review Funding Application for Updates
Ø Staff distributed
the Funding Request Application. This
form was developed two years ago. Staff
feels this form should be reviewed each year.
Ø The Committee
suggested adding total expense and total budget.
Ø A table created
with automated math on Excel. The chart
was taken off the form because each organization is different.
Ø Request board
members with addresses.
Ø Ask questions to
match criteria.
Ø Have a workshop
that is mandatory on grant writing and provide an example
Ø This will be an
item for next month to discuss.
·
Discuss Development of Form for Reporting Use of Grant Funds
Ø At this time we
do not have a form for reporting use of grant funds. What would you like to see on the form and
how would it be used.
Ø The Committee
felt it would be beneficial information for historical purposes.
Ø Deanne Kerrigan
explained that the Humanity Council has a great form.
Ø Staff will
acquire a copy of the Humanity Council’s form and discuss at the May meeting.

Amphitheatre Advisory Committee Report
Ø The
Amphitheatre is in the process of gearing up for their summer season. Last
weekend, we had a very successful Great Grapes! Wine and Music Festival with
several thousand people in attendance. This coming weekend (Saturday evening)
will feature a concert with the Raleigh Symphony and the Concert Series of Cary
in a program entitled: "Russian Nights under the Stars." Looks like a
very exciting season of events (the entire season schedule is available on
line).
Ø I
have been most impressed with the significant number of volunteers involved
with the Amphitheatre Advisory Committee, particularly the at-large
participation drawn from local businesses and interested residents from
neighborhoods surrounding the Amphitheatre.
Ø A
very nice added benefit of serving on the Advisory Committee is the
availability of comp tickets to any of the "neighborhood" concerts
throughout the summer season. Perhaps
something along this line might be something the Cultural Arts Advisory
Committee might consider for its volunteers (e.g. comp tickets to "Marvelous
Music Series Events").
·
Teen Report
Ø There will be
approximately 50 to 60 Teen Council volunteers for Spring Daze.
Ø Elections for
next year are coming up.
H. Upcoming
Events
Ø Is everyone
receiving Sarah Bunch’s Cultural Arts Calendar?
Debbie Savage said her email had changed. Staff will get this information corrected.
Ø Spring Sertoma
Series presents Eric Kearns,
Ø North Carolina
Symphony presents Play with the Pros,
