A.         Call to Order – Denny Hoadley, Chair

v      The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m.

v      Denny Hoadley welcomed the PRCR Advisory Board and everyone gave brief introductions.

 

B.         Roll Call - Absentees

Michael McDade; Rashi Bisarya, Teen Council Representative; Preetha Suresh, Teen Council Representative

 

C.         Adoption of Agenda

ACTION:  Philip Shepard made a motion to accept the agenda as written.  Paul Wasylkevych seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

D.         Adoption of Minutes

·         September 18, 2007

ACTION:  David Lindquist made a motion to approve the September 18, 2007 minutes.  Paul Wasylkevych seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

E.         Old Business

·         Old Cary Elementary Program Planning - Clearscapes

v      Ellie Torrie, Clearscapes consultant gave a PowerPoint presentation of the proposed layout for the renovation of Old Cary Elementary into a performing arts center.  The minutes of the meeting are attached.

 

ACTION by Cultural Arts Committee:  David Lindquist made a motion to accept staff’s recommendations of the proposed renovations for Old Cary Elementary as presented.  Paul Wasylkevych seconded.  The motion passed unanimously.

 

ACTION by PRCR Advisory Board:  Kay Struffolino made a motion to accept staff’s recommendation of the proposed renovations for Old Cary Elementary as presented; Tullie Johnson seconded the motion.  The motion carried by a majority vote.

 

ACTION by PRCR Advisory Board to Adjourn:  Kay Struffolino made a motion for adjournment for PRCR Advisory Board members at the close of Old Business (7:40 p.m.); the motion was seconded by Tony D’Amico.  The motion carried by majority vote.

 

F.         Liaison Reports

·         Festival Committee Report – Mamta Bisarya

v      Karen Monna, chairperson for 2006-2007 will be leaving the committee. A new representative for the YMCA will be appointed.  The new chairperson for 2007-2008 will be Kay Struffolino with Paul Wasylkevych as Vice-Chair.

v      Revenue for this year was up by $25,000 because of an increase in sponsorships.

v      The Grants Committee will be considering whether to increase the amount available for grant money this year because of the Downtown Streetscapes project will effect the festival for the next 2 years.

 

·         Amphitheatre Advisory Committee Report – Gyan Gupta

v      Outside Promoted Events

Ø             13 shows to date

Ø             Attendance – 43,003

Ø             Net Revenue - $354,444

Ø             31% above budget

v      NC Symphony Summerfest Series

Ø             7 events

Ø             Attendance – 17,660

Ø             Net Loss - $17,835

Ø             15 events to date

Ø             Attendance – 16,121

Ø             Net Revenue - $32,771

Ø             21% above budget

v      Movies

Ø             10 Movies

Ø             Attendance – 6,433

Ø             Net Revenue - $6,541

Ø             245% above budget

v      Lawn Chair Rentals

Ø             2132 Chairs Rented

Ø             $2,132 donated to Rex Charities

Ø             Net Revenue - $8,528

Ø             1171 chairs rented in 2006

Ø             82% increase from 2006

v      Preferred Parking

Ø             Net Revenue - $27,990

Ø             Net Revenue in 2006 - $15,125

Ø             85% increase from 2006

v      Diwali

Ø             Attendance – approximately 15,000

Ø             Performances excellent

v      Tinsel Town

Ø             This event will run from November 23 – December 31.

Ø             There will be a great need for numerous volunteers.
