C-Tran - Fixed Route and Door-to-Door Services

Overview
C-Tran, the Town of Cary's transit service, offers inexpensive and reliable transportation around Cary for anyone any day except Sunday. The Town of Cary provides two types of service: fixed route and door-to-door service.

Fixed Route Service
Bus StopEffective Dec. 1, 2008, the Town will offer six fixed routes for all passengers. The Town has changed the names of the fixed routes with a new numbering system.

Children age 12 and older may ride fixed route buses unaccompanied. Passengers with U.S. Medicare cards, regardless of their age, will receive the discount rate of $.50 during off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 3 p.m.). Cary citizens who are disabled or at least 60 years old and registered with the C-Tran system will continue to have the option of door-to-door service as well.

The new fixed route system replaces the previous general public door-to-door service. Cary citizens who are disabled or at least 60 years old will continue to have the option of door-to-door service as well.

Hours of Operation: Monday through Saturday, approximately 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
* Peak hours: 6-9 a.m., 3-8 p.m. (Service available every 30 minutes at stops along North-South, East-West routes; every 60 minutes at stops along the Maynard Loop Routes 1 and 2)
* Non-Peak hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Service available every 60 minutes)

Cost of Service: $1 per one-way trip
Any registered senior or disabled rider can pay 50 cents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Must show driver their U.S. Medicare card). Children age 6 and younger ride free.

Door-to-Door Service
Door-to-door service is available by reservation for Cary citizens who are at least 60 years old or disabled. For Tier I trips entirely within 3/4 mile of the fixed routes are also available to any visitor to Cary meeting eligibility requirements. See the special C-Tran service available to these citizens.

Make reservations from two hours to two weeks before the trip. Reservations are recommended at least 24 hours in advance to ensure a seat. Regular trips can be scheduled through C-Tran's subscription service, available Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Hours of Operation: Monday through Saturday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. (8 p.m. for Tier I trips) Out-of-town trips (Tier III) are only available Monday through Friday.

Discount fares of $1 per one-way trip are provided during off-peak hours (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) for Tier I and Tier II trips only. There are no discount fares for out-of-town (Tier III) trips.

C-Tran does not operate on Town of Cary holidays and follows the Wake County Public School System policy on inclement weather. Additional service for Tier I trips is provided during fixed route service days and hours of operation.
