Public Art

Powers and Duties
The Public Art Advisory Board provides advice and recommendations to Town Council and staff on all matters relating to the administration, acquisition, and inclusion of public artworks in Cary. The board reviews and makes recommendations regarding potential projects and assists staff in drafting a public art ordinance. This board advises council and staff regarding implementation of the Public Art Master Plan (Executive Summary). Members are required to attend monthly meetings and may serve on specific project subcommittees.

Membership
The Public Art Advisory Board consists of nine members appointed by Town Council with representation from local visual arts organizations, working artists, architects, private development community and the general public. All appointments to the commission are for three-year terms, except where unexpired terms are being filled.

Meetings
The board Meets as follows at 6:15 p.m. in Conference Room 11130, 316 N. Academy St., Cary.  Meetings are approximately two hours in length and may require additional study time to review materials prior to the meeting.

How do I Apply?
Applications are accepted each year from May 1 through June 30 for upcoming vacancies.  Applicants applying for this board are required to complete a supplemental application.
