Show off Basketball Skills with Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest
- Youth ages 8-13 can register to participate in the Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest, Thursday, December 7 at Bond Park Community Center.
- Participants can register online using the Town’s EZ-REG Web; walk-in registrants are welcome; pre-registration is recommended.
- Local winners advance to district, state, regional, and national competition.
Cary, NC – Time for youth ages 8-13 to hit the hardwood and show off their hoop skills at the Elks Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest on Thursday, December 7 at Bond Park Community Center, 150 Metro Park Drive. The Free Throw Contest is divided into three age groups, each with a different playing time: ages 8-9 shoot from 6:30-7:30 p.m., ages 10-11 from 7:30-8:30 p.m. and ages 12-13 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. Participants can register online using the Town’s EZ-REG Web; walk-in registrants are welcome but pre-registration is recommended. The event is co-sponsored by the Raleigh/Cary Elks Lodge #735.
“The Elks Hoop Shoot has become a favorite among the great recreational activities our Town offers. Over 3 million annually participate across the nation,” said Kyle Bacon, program attendant. “Local winners advance to district, state, regional, and national competition. National finals will be held in Chicago, Illinois. National champions are enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame.”
Participant’s age is determined as of April 1, 2018 and all players must bring a copy of their birth certificate the day of the event. Registrants must check-in no later than 30 minutes prior to their age group’s scheduled time to shoot.
