Traffic Alert – Lazy Daze

Downtown Cary streets close for Lazy Daze

  • Several roads around Town Hall Campus will be closed or altered August 25-27 in support of the Town’s annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival.
  • The festival’s accessible parking is reserved at the parking lot across from the Cary Train Depot.
  • Festival goers are encouraged to use shuttles from Cary Towne Center and Green Hope High School; all GoCary fixed routes to Lazy Daze are also free.

The Town of Cary’s 41st Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival is Saturday, August 26-27. To accommodate the festival, many streets around Cary Town Hall Campus will be closed or altered from 5 p.m. on Friday to 9 p.m. on Sunday:

  • Wilkinson Avenue will be closed;
  • Academy Street from Chapel Hill Road to Ambassador Loop will be closed;
  • Ambassador Loop will be closed;
  • No parking on Cedar Street;
  • East Adams Street will be closed to through traffic;
  • East Durham Road will be closed to accommodate shuttles;
  • The turning lane on east bound Chapel Hill Road at Academy Street will instead be used for through traffic.

With the large number of people expected to attend, parking is limited and available in public spaces and lots throughout downtown Cary, as well as at the church parking lot at the corner of Waldo Street and Walker Street; accessible parking is reserved at the parking lot across from Cary Train Depot.

The best way to get to Lazy Daze is taking the free shuttles from the Cary Towne Center, 1105 Walnut St., or Green Hope High School, 2500 Carpenter Upchurch Rd.

Additionally, during Lazy Daze, all GoCary fixed routes to and from the festival are free. Buses and shuttles depart starting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and noon on Sunday. The last buses and shuttles leave the festival at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
