Cary, NC -- Mark the end of National Police Week by celebrating safety and neighborhood unity in downtown Cary on May 21 alongside the Town’s finest emergency responders. The Town of Cary’s Public Safety Day is your chance to interact with those who help you every day; the event is from noon until 3 p.m. and activities will take place at and in the area surrounding Downtown Park, 319 S. Academy Street. Meet Town of Cary Police and Fire crews and cheer them on during strength challenges; watch K9 demonstrations; explore police and fire vehicles; and learn about Cary’s numerous safety initiatives. There will be a Kids Fun Zone and food trucks onsite.
“Partnerships with our citizens are critically important because in Cary, we believe that community safety is directly tied to how involved our citizens are with helping keep it safe,” said Sgt. Robin Edwards, Community Services Officer. “Come out this Sunday to learn how we can continue to keep Cary safe while having fun getting to know your local police and fire personnel.”
To safely support the event, The Town of Cary will close Academy Street from Dry Avenue to Park Street on May 21. The closure will be in place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Drivers passing through downtown should consider using Harrison Avenue, Park Street and Walker Street to detour. Cary residents attending Public Safety Day are encouraged to park at Town Hall Campus and throughout downtown Cary.
