Cary, Apex, Morrisville and the Wake County portion of Research Triangle Park have a joint certificate from the state authorizing transfer of up to 24 million gallons per day of surface water from the Haw River sub-basin (e.g. Jordan Lake, which flows into the Cape Fear River) to the Neuse River sub-basin.
